Ralf Fährmann: We're all disappointed

The dream of Berlin is over. We spoke to Ralf Fährmann and Leon Goretzka after the final whistle. schalke04.de noted what the pair had to say about the game.

Franco Di Santo und Ralf Fährmann

Ralf Fährmann:

It’s very annoying that our goal in added time was disallowed. I don’t want to blame the referee. We had enough chances to take the lead. It’s frustrating that the referee blew prematurely as he has assistants in Köln. At the end of the day, that extra second cost us extra time. We’re all extremely disappointed. We can leave with our head held high though. We played well, kept our calm and created chances. Unfortunately, we didn’t take them.

Leon Goretzka:

The manner in which we went out makes it a frustrating evening. We showed good spirit. The only thing we can say is that we didn’t take our chances. In my opinion, I think we did well enough to go through. Unfortunately, that’s not how it panned out. It means the loss is frustrating. I can’t understand why Franco’s goal has been disallowed. The Video Assist technology has been brought in exactly for this reason: So games like this aren’t decided by wrong decisions. I can’t understand why the referee didn’t wait a second. It’s unbelievably frustrating.
