Schalke 04 to play friendly against KAS Eupen

Karel Geraerts’ side will take on the Belgian first-division side on the 13th January (13:30 CET) ahead of the second half of the 2. Bundesliga season.

Florian Kohfeldt has been KAS Eupen’s head coach since June 2023. Kohfeldt has experience in Germany, having taken charge of over 170 Bundesliga games during stints at VfL Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. KAS Eupen currently sit 13th in the Jupiler Pro League.

S04 are set to take part in the “schauinsland reisen Cup” a day later (14.1.) in Gummersbach as part of their preparations for the second half of the season. The Royal Blues will be playing alongside SC Paderborn 07, Gornik Zabrze, RW Oberhausen, FC Gütersloh and BSV Kickers Emden at the SCHWALBE arena.

FC Schalke 04 will use the international break to play two friendlies. On Wednesday (15th November), the Royal Blues travel to face Dutch top-tier side PSV Eindhoven at 14:00 CET. The next day (16th November), they will meet Patro Eisden Maasmechelen of the Belgian second division.

Karel Geraerts: I wanted to see how the team would fare with this system

Karel Geraerts was able to take some real positives from his first 90 minutes in the dugout on Thursday (12/10). His side won 4-1 against Heracles Almelo, currently sat in eighth in the Eredivisie, though the result wasn’t the most important thing. Nevertheless, he was still pleased to win the game.
