Alex Král’s Czech Republic hit five, Kerim Calhanoglu features for U20s

Two Royal Blues were in international action on Wednesday evening, with both Alex Král and Kerim Calhanoglu getting 90 minutes under their belt. Král’s Czech Republic hit five past the Faroe Islands, whereas Kerim Calhanoglu featured in a 2-2 with the Germany U20s.

It was a comfortable evening for the Czech Republic in their penultimate international of the calendar year. Alex Král featured for the full 90 minutes as they hit five past the Faroe Islands in Olomouc. It was the Midfielder’s 33rd appearance for his country.

Despite not qualifying for the World Cup, the Czech’s spirits were not dampened and they seldom looked under threat on Wednesday evening. Sigma Olomouc’s Mojmir Chytil scored an impressive hat-trick inside the first 25 minutes (13’,19’,23’) before FC Twente’s Vaclav Cerny added a fourth before the break (42’).  Patrizio Stronati of Puskas Akademia then rounded off the impressive win in the second half (76’).

The Czech Republic’s final international of the year will take place this Saturday (19th November) when they face Turkey in Gaziantep.

Calhanoglu plays the full 90

Kerim Calhanoglu started for the Germany U20s in their game against the Czech Republic in Chomutov. The 20-year-old had to settle for a draw in his fifth appearance for the side.

Karlsruhe’s Paul Nebel gave Germany an early lead (2’), before Denis Visinksy equalised for the hosts (33’). Elversberg’s Nick Woltemade scored just a minute later to put the away side 2-1 up at the break. The U20s looked as if they were heading for victory but the Czech Republic managed to get back on terms with just under five remaining (86’).

Calhanoglu has two more matches with the U20s to look forward to, starting with a clash with Norway on Saturday (19th November) followed by a game against Portugal on Tuesday (22nd November). Both matches will be played in Zwickau.
