Michael Langer to remain at Schalke for another year

Michael Langer has extended his contract at FC Schalke 04 for another season to remain part of the squad in 2024/25. The 39-year-old will therefore go into an eighth campaign with the Royal Blues.

“We’re pleased that we’ve got an experienced goalkeeper remaining in the squad in Michael. The young players can learn a lot from him, both on and off the pitch,” said Marc Wilmots on behalf of the management. “He’s taken on an important role in training as both a teammate and a leader, and has always been on hand with good performances on the pitch when needed.”

Michael Langer himself said: “I’m looking forward to being a goalkeeper here next season. I want to share my experience with the boys both on and off the pitch and play my part in a successful campaign.”

The netminder joined the Royal Blues from Swedish side IFK Norrköping in 2017, and has impressed since then not only as an important option in goal, but also as a personality in the dressing room.
