Assan Ouédraogo moves to RB Leipzig

Midfielder Assan Ouédraogo is set to join Champions League side RB Leipzig. The 18-year-old signed a contract with the Bundesliga club on Thursday (13/6). All parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

“We knew that Assan would attract interest from other clubs because of his qualities and his contract situation. We prepared for that in our transfer planning,” explained Marc Wilmots on behalf of the management. “Assan has shown how much potential he has both during his successful time in the youth academy and his 17 first-team matches. He’ll always be welcome at Schalke. We thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future, both in his sporting career and his personal life.”

Ouédraogo joined the Royal Blues in 2014 and played for a number of the club’s academy sides. He was part of the team that won the U17 German title in 2022. The Mühlheim-born midfielder made 17 appearances in the second division last season, scoring three goals and assisting two.
