Peter Balette to leave Schalke 04

Assistant coach Peter Balette will be released from his contract with FC Schalke 04, after having approached the club's management team on Tuesday (22/10) with a request to do so due to personal reasons. The club have granted his request with immediate effect.

Peter Balette spoke about his time in Gelsenkirchen, saying “I would like to say thank you to all the Schalker. It was a great pleasure to get to work for this special club with its many fans. Nevertheless, my family remains my priority, which is why I asked to be released from my contract. To Kees and his coaching staff, as well as the team and all the fans: best of luck for the remainder of the season.”

Balette joined the Schalke coaching staff in mid-July. The club will make a decision regarding the structure of the coaching staff over the coming weeks.

Kees van Wonderen is the new head coach of FC Schalke 04

The Royal Blues have announced a new head coach as the international break begins, with Kees van Wonderen taking over as head coach of FC Schalke 04 with immediate effect. The 55-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2026 and will get underway with a first training session on Monday (7/10). He will be supported by Robert Molenaar, who joins the existing coaching staff.
