Weston McKennie on target again as USA reach Gold Cup final

The USMNT have taken the next step on their way to defending their Gold Cup title. Weston McKennie played his part once again, as the US side overcame Jamaica with a 3-1 victory on Thursday (04/07). The Royal Blue had scored the only goal of the game in the previous game, as Gregg Berhalter’s side beat Curacao 1-0 in the quarter final.

Weston McKennie was the USA’s match winner on Monday morning against Curacao in the Gold Cup. The midfielder, whose contract extension had been announced earlier that day at Schalke, headed home a Christian Pulisic cross in the 25th minute to win the game.

The Germany U21 side, including S04 duo, Alexander Nübel and Suat Serdar, lost on Sunday (30/6) against Spain, narrowly missing out on the U21 European title. Despite a good performance against Spain, the DFB juniors were unsuccessful during their 2-1 loss in Udine.

Gold Cup: McKennie’s team progress into the quarter-finals undefeated

Weston McKennie did not feature in the USA’s last group game of this year’s Gold Cup. The Royal Blue midfielder watched on from the bench as his team, who had already qualified for the quarter-finals after two wins, celebrated a 1-0 win against Panama.

S04 duo reach the U21 Euros semi-finals

After a 1-1 draw with Austria on Sunday evening (23/6), Germany U21s reached the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships. On top of that, they also secured qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Alexander Nübel started the game, while Suat Serdar came on in the 56th minute.

The US national side began their Gold Cup campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Guyana on Wednesday morning (19/6). Weston McKennie started the game in Saint Paul/Minnesota and assisted the first goal for Paul Arriola in the 28th minute.
