FC Schalke 04 bids farewell to eight first-team players

The last few months have been intensive for FC Schalke 04, whose courageous efforts to catch up to and surpass the points tallies of those teams around them in the relegation battle were sadly not rewarded with the retention of S04’s Bundesliga status. As a result, several players are set to leave the club.

Moritz Jenz: Showed great morale to earn a point

The Royal Blues are still unbeaten after eight games in the second half of the season, although the team weren’t fully satisfied with their performance in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at FC Augsburg (18/3). Marius Bülter was able to rescue a point from the spot for S04 in injury time, as Schalke were unable to take advantage of their opponents going a man down.

Moritz Jenz after his S04 debut: The fans give you energy and give you strength

There was not much missing from a very good debut from Moritz Jenz, but there was one thing that would have capped it all off. With just less than 2 minutes played of the Bundesliga clash against 1. FC Köln on Sunday (29/01), the centre-back nodded a header towards goal after a cross from Tim Skarke. However, Köln goalkeeper Marvin Schwäbe was just able to save the effort from Schalke’s first winter signing, clawing the ball off the line.
