Vitalie Becker back in team training

Vitalie Becker took the next step in his recovery on Wednesday (8/4) as the left-back completed the full training session with the team. The 21-year-old, whose last appearance came on matchday 18 in Berlin, had already been partially integrated into team training last week.

Schalke 04 extend assistant coach Tim Hoogland’s contract

Tim Hoogland is staying at Schalke, with the club extending his contract as assistant coach by three years to 2029. The 40-year-old has been rewarded for the work he has done so far, including acting as an important link between the first team and the Knappenschmiede, as well as overseeing the Knappen’s set pieces. Hoogland joined the first-team coaching staff from the U19s in November 2024.

Edin Džeko’s suspension reduced to one game after successful appeal

Following a hearing on Thursday (19/3), the DFB Sports Court cut Edin Džeko’s ban from two league matches to one and upheld the player’s appeal. A fine of €20,000 was also imposed. The Bosnian was shown a red card in Sunday’s home game against Hannover 96 (15/3).

Schalke 04 appeal against Edin Džeko’s two-match ban

Following the red card shown in Sunday’s home game against Hannover 96 (15/3), the DFB Sports Court has handed Edin Džeko a two-match suspension in a single-judge ruling after charges were brought by the DFB Control Committee. The Sports Court judged Džeko’s challenge as serious foul play.

Loris Karius back in team training

Goalkeeper Loris Karius, who has missed each of the last three league games due to a back problem, returned to team training on Wednesday (11/3). The 32-year-old worked alone with goalkeeping coach Volkan Ünlü on Monday (9/3) and Tuesday (10/3) at the start of the week.

Duo back in training – surgery for Paul Pöpperl and Emil Højlund

FC Schalke 04 began preparations for the game away to Holstein Kiel on Tuesday (9/2). Adrian Gantenbein was back with the group. The defender had to come off injured during the match at Hertha BSC and has now completed parts of full team training for the first time again. Janik Bachmann went through the entire session with his teammates after his workload had been increased week by week. Anton Donkor and Loris Karius trained individually.
