Defender Thomas Ouwejan joins Schalke

FC Schalke 04 have signed defender Thomas Ouwejan on loan for the 2021/22 season, including an option to buy. The left-back spent last season at Udinese in Serie A, making 15 appearances after joining in September 2020 on a temporary deal from parent club AZ Alkmaar.

Rouven Schröder takes over as sporting director - Mathias Schober promoted to director of the Knappenschmiede and development

The Royal Blues have made key decisions for the future and filled two vacant positions within the sporting management of the club. Rouven Schröder will take over as sporting director as of 1st July, and will be responsible for first-team squad planning, scouting and staffing the departments, among other things. Mathias Schober will become the new director of development and the Knappenschmiede with immediate effect, and will have overall responsibility for the academy in this role.

Simon Terodde signs for Schalke 04

The squad-planning task force have completed another bit of business for next season, with Simon Terodde becoming the second player after Mainz’s Danny Latza set to join FC Schalke 04 in the summer. The striker, currently playing for Hamburger SV, has agreed a deal with S04 until the end of the 2021/22 campaign with an option for a further year.
