Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß named in final Germany U21s squad for European Championship

Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß have been named in the final Germany U21s squad for the upcoming tournament in Romania and Georgia, to be held between 21st June and 8th July. Sepp van den Berg will also be involved in the tournament with the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Ibrahima Cissé will be in action with Mali in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations. Kenan Karaman, Jere Uronen, Alex Král and Rodrigo Zalazar are all also on international duty.

FC Schalke 04 bids farewell to eight first-team players

The last few months have been intensive for FC Schalke 04, whose courageous efforts to catch up to and surpass the points tallies of those teams around them in the relegation battle were sadly not rewarded with the retention of S04’s Bundesliga status. As a result, several players are set to leave the club.

Alex Král: Put in a better performance than against Hoffenheim

The 2-0 defeat at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Easter Sunday was FC Schalke 04’s second consecutive loss in the league, having previously been on an eight-game unbeaten run. Alex Král revealed that the players were disappointed with their own performances and need to improve for Friday’s home game against Hertha BSC (14/4).

Five Schalke players on international duty

Five Schalke players have been called up to represent their national teams during this week’s international break. Mehmet Can Aydin and Alex Král are in EURO qualification action, Ibrahima Cissé and Mali U23s are aiming to reach the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, while Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß have been named in the Germany U21s squad for their two friendlies.

Alex Král: We could have created more chances after the red card

Saturday’s clash (18/3) between Schalke and Augsburg was a feisty one, including a red card for the hosts and a late equaliser for the visitors. Head coaches Thomas Reis and Enrico Maaßen, as well as Tom Krauß and Alex Král, discussed the 1-1 draw after the game.

Alex Král’s Czech Republic hit five, Kerim Calhanoglu features for U20s

Two Royal Blues were in international action on Wednesday evening, with both Alex Král and Kerim Calhanoglu getting 90 minutes under their belt. Král’s Czech Republic hit five past the Faroe Islands, whereas Kerim Calhanoglu featured in a 2-2 with the Germany U20s.

Yoshida, Král, Krauß and Calhanoglu called up for international duty

The Bundesliga is done for 2022. The majority of the Schalke squad will spend the next two weeks on holiday following performance tests on Tuesday (15/11). Maya Yoshida is off to the World Cup with Japan, while Alex Král will be with the Czech national team for two friendlies. Tom Krauß and Kerim Calhanoglu are also due to feature for Germany youth sides.

Alex Král: It was a step in the right direction

Alongside Werder Bremen’s Romano Schmid, Alex Král was the fastest player on the pitch during Saturday’s match (05.11). The Czech was always involved in the action, showed lots of drive to get in front of goal and was almost able to celebrate his first goal in a Schalke 04 shirt. He was able to enjoy his 17th minute goal briefly before it was ruled out due to Kenan Karaman, who provided the assist, being in an offside position in the build up.

Tom Krauß features against England – Sepp van den Berg and Maya Yoshida keep clean sheets

The final round of international games on Tuesday (27/9) saw four Schalke players involved. Tom Krauß, Sepp van den Berg and Maya Yoshida all played, whilst Alex Král was an unused substitute for Czech Republic in their defeat to Switzerland.
