Simon Terodde: It’s always good to get on the scoresheet

Striker Simon Terodde’s first goal of 2024 was a lovely one, bringing down Tobias Mohr’s cross on his right foot and then firing through the legs of Koen Casteels on his left against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (6/1).

Maya Yoshida: We’re moving on, we’re looking ahead, we can do it!

Maya Yoshida had a strong tackle percentage on Friday (10/2) and was a big reason why FC Schalke 04 didn’t concede against VfL Wolfsburg for the third game in a row. The Japanese player was rarely beaten both in the air and on the ground, so that one of the most prolific attacking line-ups in the Bundesliga (VfL had scored 14 goals in their first four games in 2023) left the VELTINS-Arena empty handed.

Thomas Reis: We want to show which team is at home

Schalke’s last two games have seen decent performances and two decent results to boot. Following these goalless draws against Köln and Gladbach, Thomas Reis is desperate for a first win of 2023 on Friday at home to VfL Wolfsburg (10/2, 20:30 CET). “We want to take the next step and get a reward of three points,” said the head coach.
