Skrzybski back in team training – William has torn his ACL

After a long injury break, Steven Skrzybski is back in team training. The 28-year-old suffered an MCL tear at the start of January away to Hertha BSC. Nabil Bentaleb, who had a minor operation on his groin in mid-March, is also back involved.

Rouven Schröder takes over as sporting director - Mathias Schober promoted to director of the Knappenschmiede and development

The Royal Blues have made key decisions for the future and filled two vacant positions within the sporting management of the club. Rouven Schröder will take over as sporting director as of 1st July, and will be responsible for first-team squad planning, scouting and staffing the departments, among other things. Mathias Schober will become the new director of development and the Knappenschmiede with immediate effect, and will have overall responsibility for the academy in this role.

Simon Terodde signs for Schalke 04

The squad-planning task force have completed another bit of business for next season, with Simon Terodde becoming the second player after Mainz’s Danny Latza set to join FC Schalke 04 in the summer. The striker, currently playing for Hamburger SV, has agreed a deal with S04 until the end of the 2021/22 campaign with an option for a further year.

Alexander Jobst, director for marketing, sales and organisation, will step down from his role on 30th June. The FC Schalke 04 supervisory board accepted the 47-year-old's decision with regret, but understanding.

Mark Uth back in full training – Salif Sané making progress

After Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who made his first start on Saturday at Leverkusen (3/4), and Goncalo Paciencia, who came off the bench for 20 minutes after a four-month injury break, another attacker is on their way back for FC Schalke 04. Mark Uth completed a full team training session on Tuesday (6/4).

FC Schalke 04 releases 2020 fiscal year report

The fiscal year was massively shaped by the Coronavirus pandemic and the measures implemented to contain it. FC Schalke 04 generated revenues of €174.7 million in the 2020 fiscal year (2019: €275.0 million). The season being put on hold and the subsequent decision to play matches behind closed doors meant the temporary loss of significant revenue sources for the Royal Blues, ones that could only be realized to a limited extent by the end of the fiscal year.

Peter Knäbel named new Board Member for Sport and Communication

On Tuesday (30 March), FC Schake 04’s supervisory board unanimously appointed Peter Knäbel as the new Board Member for Sport and Communication. The 54-year-old, who has been technical academy and development director for the Royal Blues since April 2018, took over general sporting responsibilities on an interim basis following Jochen Schneider’s dismissal on 28 February.

Goncalo Paciencia, Salif Sané and Mark Uth back in team training

Following Klaas-Jan Huntelaar making his comeback from injury on Saturday against Borussia Mönchengladbach after his calf problem, three more players resumed team training on Tuesday. Goncalo Paciencia (knee surgery), Salif Sané (knee) and Mark Uth (thigh) all completed their first sessions back with the team.

Nabil Bentaleb and Hamza Mendyl face period on the sidelines

FC Schalke 04 will have to do without Nabil Bentaleb and Hamza Mendyl for the time being. Bentaleb underwent a minor surgical procedure on his groin on Tuesday, while Mendyl sustained an ankle injury in training.

Danny Latza chooses FC Schalke 04

The Royal Blues have made their first dip into the transfer market ahead of next season. Danny Latza will return to his hometown club after ten years away. The midfielder previously represented Schalke for 13 years in the academy and as a young professional. The 31-year-old has signed a contract until 2023 which will be extended by an extra year should Schalke achieve promotion in that time. The deal will not be affected by which division the club is in.
